This is going to be mostly a picture post, but it'll show my progress. For some specifics, i'm carving the main pieces out of balsa wood and will eventually coat with a thin plaster to make a mold out of. The goal is to illuminate it with tine LEDs. Specifically inside the Cyclotron and the Wand.

Here is the crank generator painfully carved.
And for now, the pieces loosely assembled to give you an idea of what it will look like.
I've clearly made some progress. I still have some carving and actual creation of the booster and frame, the power cell (which I would like to light up as well, but might prove to be just too small) and the ion bar. But you can get an idea of how it's going. Once all the basic pieces are there I'll begin doing some real detail work, sand down some rough edges with very fine sand paper and begin to fully assemble. The wand is going to be tricky due to its configuration. I might forgo the usual mounting bracket for a magnet in order to save space and for durability's sake.
