Proton Pack 3

It's been a while since I've updated with some pictures and progress so...might as well now.  Right?
I made a basic version of the pack and the from that made a second which will become the full piece.  I found it easier to create a guide to base it on.  This way I could always make more if need be.

Here are some build pictures.  Cause you know, that's what you're interested in.

Here is the first pack resting on a deck of Magic cards.  Go on, laugh.  It's alright.  Mainly I wanted to show the scale.  It's about the size of a deck of cards.

Here is a smattering of pieces getting their first coat of Gesso.  Which I used to strengthen the balsa and fill any minute gaps in the grain of the wood.  You can see the cyclotron, motherboard and a few other small pieces.  They all get several coats of Gesso with sanding inbetween each spraying.

And just as a comparison of the two packs.

The pieces are just resting on eachother. Nothing is truly connected as of yet.  Some shaping and fine tuning needs to be done to a few of the pieces and holes still need to be drilled in the cyclotron.

The Clippard!  This is it being primed and the pic below is the final product next to a small bottle of thinner for scale.

The writing on the clippard is a printed out image that I scaled down and glued onto it.  Being so small you does tend to blur the text a bit, but you get the main idea of what it is.  And it's not too blurry.

And here is the crank case in primer getting ready for some sanding.  The only issue I have so far is the section where the crank actually goes.  It's just such a small space that I'm going to have to be creative in smoothing it out.

So there we are so far.  A good February update and where things stand with the pack.  It's coming a long and quite nicely too I think.
